Spring runoff advisory has ended

The spring runoff advisory for Greater Sudbury was lifted this week by the Nickel District Conservation Authority (NDCA).

The spring runoff advisory for Greater Sudbury was lifted this week by the Nickel District Conservation Authority (NDCA).

According to the NDCA, the spring runoff has gone smoothly around the watershed and no further problems are anticipated as a result of melting snow.

The NDCA cautions however that with the continuing ground saturation, extended periods of rain in the next few weeks would cause water levels and flows to once again increase. Some precipitation is expected in the next three to five days but is not expected to cause runoff problems.

The NDCA is still warning the public to be careful around fast-flowing water and to stay away from the surface of lakes as the ice is quickly deteriorating.
