St. Charles raises funds for student burned in house fire

Nick Pilote being treated at Toronto's Sick Kids Hospital

The St. Charles College community got together last week to raise funds for Grade 9 student Nick Pilote, who was badly burned in a house fire just before the school year started.

“One thousand dollars was raised for him to help out with expenses associated with being at Sick Kids,” said a post on the local high school's Facebook page.

“The football team he was to be a part of also raised funds and sent along a Cards football shirt. Get well Nick. We cannot wait until you can join us for Grade 9!”

Nick's mom, Angela Pilote, posted a note of thanks on St. Charles' Facebook page.

“There are no words that even come close to say how much we appreciate what everyone has done for us!” she said.

“The beautiful cards, well wishes, prayers, messages & generosity is so humbling and touches us so deeply in our hearts! To just say thank you to everyone doesn't seem enough. Nick wanted everyone to know he is so proud to call SCC his school, and can't wait to be able to walk through those doors. From Nick, Dean (his dad) and myself (his mom) THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts.”
