People who attend the Sudbury Theatre Centre's afternoon performance of Armstrong's War on Saturday, Oct. 1, will support local mental health services at the same time.

Ticket sales from the 2 p.m. performance of the play will support the Northern Initiative for Social Action and the Canadian Mental Health Association.
Armstrong’s War is a touching account of friendship and fragility by Colleen Murphy, a spirited 12-year-old Pathfinder who is eager to earn all her badges.

When she volunteers to read stories to a young soldier injured in Afghanistan, he responds with his own shocking tale – one that throws cherished beliefs about life and hope into question.

The Sudbury Theatre Centre’s production of play is directed by Caleb Marshall.

The Saturday afternoon performance will also be presented as a relaxed performance. It is specifically designed to welcome those who benefit from a more tranquil environment including autism spectrum conditions, sensory and communication disorders, or learning disabilities.

There is a calmer attitude to noise and movement and some small changes made to the light and sound effects of the production.
Each Theatre Series production moving forward will include one relaxed erformance on the last Sunday of the run.

If you’re interested in attending, tickets are available for purchase at the Northern Initiative for Social Action and Canadian Mental Health Association (http://sm.cmha.ca/) for $40 each. The performance will take place at Sudbury Theatre Centre, at 170 Shaughnessey Street in Downtown Sudbury.

Tickets are also available through the Sudbury Theatre Centre box office
