Steer clear of Paris Street bridge for rest of summer

Work starting today on the Paris Street bridge is expected to create traffic delays until the end of the construction season.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction. Delays are expected as motorists are urged to leave extra time to get to their destination or use alternate routes.

The work will focus this year on the southbound lane and will include repairs to the bridge abutments and bridge deck, including pavement, sidewalks, barrier walls, railings and street lights.

The construction will stop for the winter and start up again next summer. The city hopes to have the project done by the end of the 2005 construction season.

Public Works general manager Don Belisle apologizes for any inconvenience the work will create.

?We're building today for tomorrow.?
