Some brave teachers at  St. Benedict Catholic Secondary School recently helped Grade 7 and 8 students raise funds through the school's Aware Bears club.

This year, the Aware Bears, run by teacher Sherry Trowbridge, are focusing on the Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer, NOFCC.

With more than $2,500 raised already, the idea came about to duct tape teachers to the gym wall to raise even more money.

All students in the school are grouped into houses as a means to build spirit and friendships.

The school's houses competed to see who could keep a teacher taped to the wall for the longest period of time. Teacher Gino Posetaro and his house, Mkwaa, won the challenge.

Another $732 was raised during the duct tape challenge.

The event was “an awesome show of spirit and support with the best teachers and student body going,” said Trowbridge.
