Strike deadline threatens to disrupt classes at Laurentian

Contract negotiations for Laurentian University's faculty have reached an impasse as their Oct. 12 strike deadline draws near.

Contract negotiations for Laurentian University's faculty have reached an impasse as their Oct. 12 strike deadline draws near.

According to the Laurentian University Faculty Association (LUFA), negotiating teams have been bargaining in lock-down mode since Oct. 4. The impasse is a direct result of monetary issues. Laurentian professors are fighting for salaries similar to what their provincial counterparts receive.

Although the strike deadline looms, union officials say they are doing their best to avoid disrupting students' schedules.
