After a successful summer helping students and businesses with their employment needs, the Sudbury/Espanola Human Resources Centre of Canada for Students (HRCC-S) closed it doors for the season on Friday (Aug. 23).
The HRCC-S office helped more than 3,000 employers and students this summer, and had a record-breaking season, placing 1,541 students since the office opened at the beginning of the summer.
Â?The summer went extremely well,Â? said Steve Pageau, lead summer employment officer. Â?We helped a large number of students with their job searches, and we also counselled them on things like resume and cover-letter writing, interview techniques, employment standards and wage rates.Â?
The office also hosted a few promotional events to help connect employers and students. The Grand Opening and Hire A Student Hockey and BBQ Challenge were two of the more successful initiatives.
The HRCC-S is part of the federal governmentÂ?s Youth Employment Strategy, which is a key initiative of Knowledge Matters, their Skills and Learning agenda. To find out more about Youth Employment strategies and programs, visit the website at. www.youth.gc.ca
