A new youth committee at the Northern Cancer Foundation is working to collect toiletries during the month of December to help out the Daffodil Terrace Lodge.

Students with a Target: Cancer (SWAT: Cancer), is a new youth committee at the Northern Cancer Foundation made up of high school students from a number of different schools all over the city.

Even the most prepared among us has forgotten to take toiletries on a trip. Luckily, in most cases, hotels have a stock of the most commonly used items ready to replace the traveller’s forgotten ones.

The aim of this project is to build up a stock of soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, razors, shaving cream, tooth brushes, toothpaste and feminine products for the Daffodil Terrace Lodge.

The Lodge is a home away from home for patients travelling to Sudbury for appointments and cancer treatments at the Northeast Cancer Centre. Many patients will stay at the Daffodil Lodge for days and weeks at a time.

To help this initiative gain traction and to help the Daffodil Terrace Lodge be prepared if a patient forgets something at home, many local businesses have agreed to take bins to their workplace to fill up.

SWAT: Cancer Toiletry Drive bins can be found at Herman’s IDA Pharmacy, Talk of the Town Hair Factory, Deluxe Nails and Spa, 2nd Avenue Home Hardware,The Beauty Supply Outlet, and the Northern Cancer Foundation office with hopefully more locations to come before the holiday season!
