Public Health Sudbury and Districts notified the Rainbow District School Board that students on two local bus routes must self-isolate due to a possible exposure to COVID-19.

Some students from Alexander Public School on the afternoon elementary bus route L811 and some students from Princess Anne Public School on the morning elementary bus route L653 must self-isolate up to and including Oct. 23.

In a letter posted to the school board’s website, the requirement for self-isolation is “based on immunization status.”

“The affected students, their parents/guardians and relevant bus drivers have been notified and have received a letter from public health with specific guidance,” said the letter.

Both bus routes have been cancelled for the remainder of the week and will resume on Oct. 26 since the following Monday is a professional activity day.

Alexander Public School and Princess Anne remain open for in-person learning, and there are no confirmed cases at either school.

The Rainbow District School Board has reported 27 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the school year.

Two of those cases have been among staff members, and the rest have been among students who attend local schools.

The Sudbury Catholic District School Board (SCDSB) has reported 14 cases of COVID-19 since the beginning of the school year.

This includes cases at St. Anne, St. Charles, St. David, and St. Francis.

There are currently no outbreaks at SCDSB schools, but one class has been closed at St. Charles and one class has been closed at St. Francis, according to the school board’s website.

All schools remain open for in-person learning.

The Sudbury Students Services Consortium reported a number of bus cancellations for the week of Oct. 18.

“Due to a replacement driver shortage, the following routes are cancelled for the week of October 18: L003, L025, L029, L102, L133, L500 and L815,” the consortium’s website said.

There are currently no active cases of COVID-19 involving people who have attended the Cambrian College campus within the past 10 days.
