Sudburian ordained bishop

Rev. Ronald Fabbro was ordained a bishop of the Roman Catholic Church Thursday in London, Ont. He will head the diocese of London. Fabbro is the son of Ines Fabbro and the late Emile Fabbro of Sudbury.

Fabbro is the son of Ines Fabbro and the late Emile Fabbro of Sudbury. He was born and raised here before entering the Basilian Fathers in 1975 and being ordained a priest in 1980.

The new bishop will celebrate mass in Sudbury this Saturday at 4:30 pm at St. Clement Church on Eyre Street, and this Sunday at 9:30 am at St. PatrickÂ?s Church on Walford Road. Both masses will be followed by receptions for Fabbro.

The Roman Catholic Diocese of London stretches from Windsor to Wingham and from Sarnia to Simcoe. There are approximately 450,000 Catholics in the nine southwestern Ontario counties that make up the diocese.
