The Ontario government is investing $750,000 in a new hangar for the Sudbury airport.
The 15,000 square foot hangar will be for Hicks and Lawrence Ltd., a Northern Ontario based company that has been active in aviation for over 50 years. Up to eight new jobs will be created.
"The Greater Sudbury Airport is one of Northern Ontario's busiest, connecting people to destinations worldwide, including direct air service to most of Northeastern Ontario's smaller communities," said Jim Marchbank, president and chair of the Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation, in a release.
"On behalf of the SACDC, I would like to express my gratitude to the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for supporting an initiative that till develop the airport and create jobs."
The new hangar, funded by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund, will be located next to the Ministry of Natural Resources fire aviation facility and will serve as an aircraft maintenance and overhaul centre.
