Rematech Industries was recognized as the company of the year at Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce Bell Business Excellence Awards gala Tuesday evening.

Rematech, which has designed and built conveyor belting, rubber and urethane moulded products, and corrosion and abrasion resistant linings since 1964, was one of 10 awards recipients at the event.

“This year’s award recipients are diverse in their experience, but similar in their desire to grow the economy,” said David Boyce, Chair of the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, in a release. “They have taken risks, worked hard, and are committed to our community.”

Robert Brown Jewellers received the chair's award and Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Debbi Nicholson was recognized for her 35 years of service with the chamber.

Other recipients included Sheri Tomchick, CEO of Plan A Health Care Staffing Solutions, who was recognized as entrepreneur of the year, and Taylor Marshall, who received the award for young entrepreneur of the year for his company Marshall Yardworks.

According to the Greater Sudbury Chamber of Commerce, the awards are meant to “pay tribute to those hard working entrepreneurs and businesses whose achievements and contributions to the community distinguish them from their peers.
