Last Sunday was a day of awards, trophies and special recognition for members of 2912 Sudbury Irish Army Cadet Corps. The unit held its 29th annual ceremonial review at the armoury on Riverside Drive.

The prestigious Maj.-Gen. W.A. Howard Award for outstanding army cadet was won by Warrant Officer David Fines.

A national committee established by the Army Cadet League of Canada selects one cadet per province for the honour.

Fines was picked based on results from the National Star Certification Exam combined with an assessment of his overall performance.

Master Warrant Officer Jonathan Munn received the Royal Canadian Legion Medal of Excellence in recognition of individual endeavours in citizenship which meet or enhance the aims and objectives of the cadet movement.
