The Sudbury Five basketball team has established a home-court advantage this season, which they further solidified last night with a 110-84 win over the Flint United.

This was the Sudbury Five’s first game this season against the Michigan-based team, and followed a March 26 victory against the Kitchener Waterloo Titans.

The leading points scorer last night was shooting guard Tyrell Gumbs-Frater at 20 points, followed by Evan Harris and Zena Edosomwan at 17 points apiece. This was a personal best for Gumbs-Frater this season, with the Scarborough product’s previous points record set on Feb. 25, when he earned 15 against Toledo Glass City in Ohio.

The local team’s record is currently 6-7 overall, with a 5-2 win record at home and a 1-5 record away in their 13 games thus far this season.

The Sudbury Five’s next game will be a conference game in Windsor against the Express at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Their next home game will be another match against the Kitchener Waterloo Titans on Saturday at 7 p.m.
