Jason Turnbull, the longtime CBC Sudbury afternoon show host, is leaving the network for a communications job at Health Sciences North.
Turnbull hinted at the change on his show last Friday, and provided more details Tuesday on social media.
“My last day as host of Up North is going to be this Friday,” he wrote. “I have accepted a job with Health Sciences North in communications and I couldn't be more excited for that opportunity to learn some new skills, and tackle some new challenges.”
Turnbull hosted Up North for the last three years, and hosted Points North before that.
The move comes amid rumours that 30 management positions are being cut as the hospital struggles with a deficit as high as $10 million.
In January, five seniors managers making a combined $802,750 were laid off, including Viviane Lapointe, who was HSN's head of communications.
