Sudbury man arrested during raid at illegal Barrie weed shop

A Sudbury man is facing charges after being arrested in a raid on an illegal cannabis dispensary in Barrie.

The OPP and Barrie Police Service jointly raided the Dunlop Street dispensary on July 31, arresting two men, both of whom were employees, police said.

Police say they seized cannabis and cannabis-related products valued at $24,730, as well $4,333 of Canadian currency and electronics related to the illegal business. 

A 31-year-old Barrie man and the 23-year-old Sudbury man face one count each of possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, selling cannabis in contravention of the Cannabis Act, and possession of the proceeds of crime under $5,000.

The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie on Sept. 28.
