Sudbury manager responsible for Noranda recycling and copper operations

Effective April 1, Brent Chertow has been appointed to the position of senior vice-president, Canadian Copper and Recycling, based in Toronto. In this role, Chertow will be responsible for Noranda's recycling and Canadian copper operations, including the Horne smelter in Rouyn-Noranda, the Gaspé smelter in Murdochville, and the CCR refinery in Montreal-East, all located in Quebec, and the four recycling facilities in the United States. He will also be responsible for Falconbridge's mining and metallurgical Kidd divisions.

Chertow first joined Falconbridge in 1975 and has worked in various senior positions in Sudbury, Timmins and Toronto. In 1991, he was appointed manager, smelter complex for the Sudbury operations and in 1993, he transferred to Timmins, initially as manager, copper operations. He was later appointed vice-president and general manager of the Kidd metallurgical division. In 2000, he returned to Sudbury as vice-president and general manager of the Sudbury smelter business unit. His most recent position was vice-president, metallurgical plants operations.
