Darren Blasutti, vice-president of corporate development, Barrick Gold Corporation will be the keynote speaker at SAMSSA?s Annual Meeting.m Dec. 12 at College Boreal (11:30 am).
SAMSSA (Sudbury Area Mining Supply and Service Association) brings together a number of highly experienced private sector mining supply and service companies that are prepared to assist clients in domestic and international markets.
This is a special event for SAMSSA as it recognizes Blasutti as another Sudburian who has achieved corporate success in the mining sector. He was who was born and raised in Sudbury, is a chartered accountant and a graduate of Laurentian University.
He will be joined by Bruce McIver, director of contracts and tenders for Barrick Gold Corp in Toronto. A detailed global contact list for Barrick?s tendering will be provided to attendees.

Before joining Barrick, Blasutti spent seven years at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he served as a manager in the Audit Business Advisory Services group. He was also a specialist in the mining industry group working on such global accounts as Inco, Barrick and Rio Tinto. He has been with Barrick since 1998.
Blasutti led the deal team in Barrick?s proposed $9.2 billion takeover of Placer Dome which was recently announced.
