Sudbury Performance Group recently announced it is starting up a youth company.

“We realize these are interesting times in which to start up a youth company for Sudbury Performance Group,” said Sudbury Performance Group treasurer Tanya Saari, in a press release.

“However, we are aware that some of the city’s youth are yearning to be creative, yearning to channel their energy, and yearning for something different. Why not give them that opportunity?”

The inaugural season of SPG’s Youth Company will have to be offered virtually due to the pandemic.

This will allow SPG’s staff of artistic leaders to explore new avenues to teach the city’s youth the essentials of stage performance as well as to perform a full-scale musical, all while all of the budding actors are at home and in front of their computers.

Registration for SPG’s Youth Company is now underway. Cost of registration is $250 per child, or $230 per child for families.

Children will be taught by four highly skilled artists, who will focus on acting, choreography, and vocal performance. Spaces are limited, so early registration is recommended.
