The Northern chapter of Toastmasters held its Northern Division Speech Contest at Tom Davies Square April 4. Contestants came from Sudbury and North Bay, with additional visitors from Sault Ste. Marie and guest speakers from Toronto.

Sudbury resident Alexandre Matte won the speech contest, and Michel Lafrance won the evaluation contest.

Both speakers are eligible to compete in Burlington at the District Conference on April 25.

The mission of Toastmasters International is to help men and women learn the arts of speaking, listening and thinking.

The Sudbury Chapter, in District 86 of Toastmasters Canada, is made of three separate clubs: Voix du Nord, The Greater Sudbury Speakers Club, and Northern Advanced Toastmasters. There are a total of 12 clubs in District 86.
