This past weekend at the Central Northwest Provincial Synchro meet in Etobicoke, Sudbury Synchro Swim Club was awarded the Myra Gerow award in recognition for being the top fundraising club for the Burning Bright Breast Cancer Campaign.

The club raised more than $13,000 at their 13th annual relay swim last October.

The Top Fundraising Club Award was named in honour of Myra Gerow who was part of the Sudbury Synchro Club, and who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2011.

In addition to being part of the synchronized swimming community, Myra was a strong supporter of CBCF and a passionate advocate for creating a future without breast cancer.

"Sudbury Synchro is beyond thrilled to bring this award back to Sudbury for the second year in a row," said a news release from the Sudbury Synchro Swim Club.

"Myra's passion and commitment lives on within the existing members and swimmers."

Stacie Kohan from Sudbury Synchro was also recognized by Synchro Ontario and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation as the top individual fundraising athlete for the Burning Bright campaign this year.
