Sudbury Theatre Centre is accepting auditions for its Students on Stage program

The Students on Stage program engages students in the process of creating a major theatrical production, culminating in a series of performances for parents and the community. Participants develop their performance abilities in acting, voice and movement, and contribute to the creation of props, sets, and costumes.

STC’s education programs contribute to each student’s emotional, intellectual and social development, said the theatre company in a news release. Participation also helps to develop their self-confidence and problem-solving skills.

The program is open to children ages 10 to 17. Entrance into the program is by audition.

Auditions will be held at STC on Sunday, Nov. 7 and Monday Nov. 8, from 4-8 p.m. Auditions will be in groups of six to eight students of a similar age. There is no fee required to audition.

Masks must be worn at all times while inside the building. Hand sanitizer will be readily available throughout the building and in the washrooms.

Approximately 20 students will be accepted into the program. Successful applicants will be notified by Nov. 19.

Rehearsals will be held on Sunday and Monday evenings from early February to mid-May. Performances for school audiences and the public will be held the last week of May.

The participation fee for this four-month program is $325 (taxes included) – students already registered in another STC program pay only $300.
