A local organizing committee is inviting the community to take part in “Women's March Canada - Sudbury” this Saturday, Jan. 20.

The march will start and end at the York Street parking lot across from Bell Park and will begin at 11 a.m. sharp.

"We march in solidarity with women and human rights groups from across the world we will be marching to show that the progress made in 2017 was not enough," said a news release from the organizing committee.

"There is still so much work to do to protect and advance the rights of women, and the rights of all vulnerable citizens in our country. If you think 2017 was a loud year for women, well - you ain't seen nothing yet!"

Participants are asked to gather in the York Street parking lot across from Bell Park. The march will begin at 11 a.m. sharp and will go along the Paris Street sidewalk over the Bridge of Nations and back.

Participants are asked to come with a sign and wearing feminist-approved outerwear. The event is open to all feminists and is non-partisan and secular.

The march will be kicked off with a few words from Ontario NDP leader Andrea Horwath, Amanda Kingsley-Malo (founder PoliticsNow) and Vicki Jacobs (co-founder Sudbury Women's Action Group).
