Summer games, arenas and our chat with the mayor

Sudbury.com editor Mark Gentili and Mayor Brian Bigger have tea and chat about the issues

Mayor Brian Bigger is two years into his term as the Nickel City’s head of council.

Sudbury.com editor Mark Gentili took him out for tea last week to chat about some of what council has accomplished in the first two years of its four-year term, as well as some of the issues that have been making headlines in the city.

They talked about the Canada Summer Games, Sudbury’s bid to host it and why the mayor believes it’s a project the Nickel City should take on. They also talk about plans for a new arena, whether there should be an open mic night with city council and take questions from Sudbury.com readers.

The conversation is long, so if you want to skip to the topics that interest you, here’s a list of time stamps to make it a bit easier for you.

1:30 Canada Games
10:06 Arena
14:43 Priorities and accomplishments
20:49 Amalgamation
26:54 Council and risk
32:29 Open mic night at city council
34:17 Questions from our readers

Sudbury.com plans on doing more of these chats with Sudburians. If there’s someone you would like to see us sit down with for tea, let us know in the comments below, email them to [email protected] or tweet to @Sudburydotcom.
