A summit meeting on the Sudbury Regional Hospital hosted by Minister of Health George Smitherman has been pushed to Monday evening due to the untimely death of Hamilton East MPP Dominic Agostino.
A Ministry of Northern Development and Mines spokesperson said the meeting has been pushed to 6:30-8:30 pm so officials can attend Agostino?s funeral Monday.
The much-anticipated summit meeting was proposed in response to calls from many groups and officials that the government up its share of the hospital?s capital costs from 70 to 85 per cent.
Hospital officials hope the funding formula will be adjusted at the meeting, but failing that, want the go-ahead from Smitherman to restart construction of the one-site hospital, which has been under construction for about 30 months.
The meeting will take place in the Hepburn Block at Queen?s Park.
