The Rainbow Routes Association will host their first monthly hike of the 2016-17 season on Saturday, Oct. 1 with a trek around Bennett Lake.
"Our seasoned hike leader will lead us around an old Finnish homestead and lead us to one of Greater Sudbury's highest peak," said a news release from the group.
Participants are asked to meet at Laurentian University's Ben Avery building at 9:45 am for instructions, membership information and to sign waivers.
The hike will begin at 10 a.m. and end at approximately 12 p.m.
Membership is $10 ($15 for families) and once a member, you will be exempt from having to sign the hike club waivers until the next membership year.
Hikes will run in all but the worst of weather, so be prepared with proper footwear and clothing.
If the hike needs to be cancelled, there will be a pre-recorded message on the Hike Club Hotline (705-674-4455 ext. 2474) by 9 a.m. on the day of the hike.
Hike Club meetings will take place every first Saturday of the month, from Oct. 1, 2016 to June 3, 2017.
