Take Back the Night march could cause some traffic disruptions downtown tonight

The Greater Sudbury Police Service is advising the public of possible traffic disruptions Wednesday evening  in the downtown core.

Members from “Take Back the Night” are planning a march beginning at the N’Swakamok Native Friendship Centre located at 110 Elm St.. The event will begin at 7 p.m. and is expected to continue until 8 p.m.

The expected route for this march will continue east on Elm Street entering into the downtown core.

"The Greater Sudbury Police Service respects everyone’s right of freedom of expression and peaceful assembly," said the GSPS in a news release.

"The role of the Greater Sudbury Police Service is to ensure public safety and to keep the peace. Activities may interrupt the normal flow of traffic. Officers will be present during the event."

The public is being asked to be patient when travelling in the downtown core this evening and asked to be respectful to all pedestrians. Motorists may want to consider alternate routes when navigating through the downtown Wednesday evening.
