Take 'n' bake pizza coming to Sudbury in October

Local restaurant owner opens second take-out business during pandemic

Ontario's first Papa Murphy's pizza will soon be located in Sudbury.

The take-and-bake pizza franchise has more than 20 locations across Canada including Alberta, Manitoba and British Columbia.

Final touches are being made to the Sudbury location, which will be located inside the former Maria's Restaurant at 499 Notre Dame Avenue. Local business owner Muhammad Afzal said the restaurant is set to open during the first week of October.

At Papa Murphy's, customers can order their pizza cooked or purchase a take-and-bake pizza that they can cook at home in their own oven.

Afzal is no stranger to the take-out business.

About two years ago, he purchased the Papa John’s Pizza franchise on Lasalle Boulevard. He closed that restaurant and purchased the Maria’s building last year.

This past May, he opened Sahar of Sudbury, an Indian and Pakistani takeout food restaurant. The entrance for Sahar's is on the side of the building by the parking lot and the entrance for Papa Murphy's is located in the front of the building.

Visit Papa Murphy's website to view their menu, deals and to make an order.
