The 2002 conference at Cambrian College will focus on raising awareness about career opportunities that exist for women in the skills or trades occupations.

Girls in grades 8 through 10, from all school boards, will be invited. The event features discussions, workshops and a tour of the trade-training facilities.

Women of the Future is a volunteer organization whose mandate is to create and foster awareness about the diversity of career options for women.

The first conference last year was held at Laurentian University. About 300 young girls attended the event, which was described by Helen Francis, vice-chair of Women of the Future, as a ?huge success.?

They are limiting the numbers this year to about 250 participants in order to be able to have more group interaction and networking.

This year?s theme is ?believe in yourself.?
