Wondering about that large retail building going up on the corner of Barrydowne and The Kingsway? Well, it opened Dec. 27.

The retailer is the newest location of Party City, a national chain with 52 locations across Canada. At 13,000 square feet, it's like a palace to good times.

Spokesperson Linda MacMillan said the retailer has “what you need for whatever holiday or occasion you are celebrating or team you are cheering on. From balloons, everyday and licensed party supplies, tableware, candy, pinatas, accessories, themes, team colours, Halloween costumes, décor and so much more.”

Each store employs about 18 staff members, she said.

“As any new store, during the set up of the Sudbury location we were able to provide seasonal temporary employment for about 40 people which employed them through the holiday season,” MacMillan said.

“From this group we kept our base staff. During the Halloween season we will hire approximately 40-50 more people.”

She said Party City is “excited” to open in Sudbury.
