ItÂ?s full speed ahead on the fundraising and construction of SudburyÂ?s newest tourist attraction.

Dynamic Earth, an earth sciences centre, is targeted to open in the spring of 2003. The centre is expected to generate $12.2 million in new tourism spending and create 127 new, permanent jobs.

Â?WeÂ?re very pleased with progress to date,Â? said Mia Boiridy, Dynamic Earth director. Â?Construction is on schedule and the business community is responding to our fundraising campaign.Â?

Last week, Nickel City Steel moved on site and started erecting the steel frame of the main building. As well, the Big Change fundraising campaign, which is responsible for raising $2 million for the project, garnered another $50,000 in new donations. With one year to go, the campaign has already raised $350,000.

Crosstown Chev Olds, Imperial Oil Charitable Foundation, J.P. Bickell Foundation, Lopes Mechanical, Nickel City Steel, Equipment North, and Sudbury and District Chartered Accountants, are just a few of the businesses that contributed to the campaign recently.
