The only two current active COVID-19 cases in the North are in Sudbury

With 99 new cases reported today, there are 920 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province

Ontario Public Health has confirmed 99 new cases of COVID-19 in the province today. That's up slightly from the 81 new cases reported on Sunday, and down from the 106 cases reported on Saturday. 

Based on information compiled from the province's health units by Public Health Ontario, there were actually 101 new cases reported today, but Hamilton public health removed two previously-reported cases, bringing the total down to 99 cases. 

Today's new cases came from 13 of the province's 34 health units, with Toronto and Peel reported 26 and 25 new cases respectively. Ottawa reported 19 new cases, and York reported seven new cases for the provincial summary. 

There were no new deaths reported today, but there were 83 new recoveries noted.

Of today's 99 new cases, there were 23 cases in individuals 19 and under, 41 cases in people aged 20 to 39 years old, and another 22 cases in the 40 to 59-year-old age group.  

The province has now confirmed 40,745 cases of COVID-19 to-date, with 37,036 of those cases reported recovered and 2,789 cases reportedly ending in death. 

Based on the cumulative totals reported by Public Health Ontario, there are 920 active, lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the province currently.

Since the last provincial update, there have been 25,567 tests processed, and there are another 15,076 tests awaiting results. 

In Northern Ontario there are two known active cases.

The breakdown for the health units is:

  • Algoma Public Health: 27 cases, rate of 23.6 per 100,000 population. There are no known active cases.
  • North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit: 35 cases, rate of 27 per 100,000 population. The health unit has reported 37 cases. There are no known active cases.
  • Porcupine Health Unit: 72, rate of 86.3 per 100,000 population. There are no known active cases.
  • Public Health Sudbury and Districts: 92 cases, rate of 46.2 per 100,000 population. The health unit has reported 91 cases. There are two known active cases.
  • Timiskaming Health Unit: 19 cases, rate of 58.1 per 100,000. There are no known active cases.
  • Northwestern Health Unit: 43 cases, rate of 49 per 100,000. The health unit has reported 44 cases. There are no known active cases.
  • Thunder Bay District Health Unit: 100 cases, rate of 66.7 per 100,000. There are no known active cases.

The Ontario rate of infection per 100,000 population is 274.1.
