Theatre Cambrian is on the cusp of celebrating their 20th Anniversary, and they're pulling out all the stops for the 2004/05 season with three major productions sure to tickle the most cynical fan's fancy.
Theatre Cambrian will stage a production of Oliver!, Stephen King's Misery and end the 20th anniversary year with the musical Chicago.
Oliver! is a colourful musical adaptation of the Charles Dicken's classic Oliver Twist and will run in the fall.
Misery is a chilling tale of a romance novelist who has a car accident in the hills of Colorado and is rescued by a fanatic fan/nurse. Misery will have all the tension of the original book. It will run in February and March.
Theatre Cambrian will close out its 20th season with the stage version of Chicago, which tells the story of wannabe Chicago chorus girl Roxie Hart, who shoots her unfaithful lover and is sent to prison. It runs in May.
Mark Mannisto, president of Theatre Cambrian is already anxious for the 20th season to begin.
?It's probably our most exciting line up we have had in quite some time,? said Mannisto. ?Oliver! is a family favourite and usually a hit with everyone. Misery will delight fans and keep them in suspense. And everyone is familiar with Chicago. It has a lot of press over the last year.?
?They're definitely recognizable names,? said Mannisto. ?We hope they will attract not just the regular theatre going audience, but also attract people that don't regularly go out to theatre productions. Oliver is focused toward children, Misery will be our dark drama for the year, and Chicago will provide all the razzle dazzle that Theatre Cambrian audiences really deserve.?
Theatre Cambrian also unveiled its new website: www.theatrecambrian.ca.
