Last year, there were seven homicides committed against a resident by another resident in an Ontario long-term care home, says the Ontario Health Coalition.

That's one piece of information the OHC will detail when it released its Situation Critical report on Jan. 21.

The report delves into the rising tide of violence among residents of long-term care facilities.

This OHC report bases its assessment of the current state of long-term care in Ontario and what the needs of our population of seniors are from available data from the long-term care industry and the Ontario government.

A news conference took place in Sudbury at 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 21 at the main public library. Local first-hand accounts of conditions in long-term care will also be provided. The report is being toured around 30 towns around Ontario from Jan. 21 to Feb. 5.

Look for coverage on Sudbury.com later today.
