The North Shore Health Network (NSHN) has temporarily closed the Thessalon Hospital as a precaution while health care workers are tested for symptoms of COVID-19.

Emergency services will be redirected to NSHN’s Blind River or Richards Landing - Matthews sites.

“After discussion and agreement with our physician and management team, as well as Algoma Public Health, we feel that this is the safest course of action given the information that we have available at this time,” said Ralph Barker, NSHN president and CEO in a press release.

This temporary closure is expected to last between three and five days.

An update will be provided when the site reopens.
