Sudbury MPP and Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault is not letting the negativity from the previous byelection affect the work he wants to continue to do for Sudbury.

He announced his candidacy for re-election this afternoon at the Copper Cliff Curling Club.

“This is a position that I am very humble to hold, to be the voice of Sudbury and I will continue to advocate on behalf of my community at Queens Park” Thibeault said.

The announcement came with a slightly smoother process than what transpired when Kathleen Wynne nominated Thibeault for the byelection as a Liberal Party candidate almost four years ago, leading to the byelection scandal that wrapped up with a court case this past fall.

Looking back at his previous nomination Thibeault said, “Last time we had to move early since byelections were coming up, however this time we have seven months to plan before the general elections”

Thibeault's nomination was supported by surrounding area MP's Paul Lefebvre and Marc Serre, who were present at the announcement.

He was also surrounded by his family and many other supporters who were ecstatic with the announcement.

“At the end of the day, for me, it's to be able to talk about what we are doing to build Ontario up and helping families within the community,” Thibeault maintains.
