Through rain and shine, Sudbury celebrates Canada 150 (photos)

Despite Mother Nature's best efforts, Canada Day festivities across the city were well-attended

Despite periods of often heavy rains throughout the day, Sudburians still celebrated the 150th anniversary of confederation in droves.

The special sesquicentennial Canada Day celebrations kicked off in the morning with a parade from Memorial Park to the Sudbury Community Arena.

Once inside, revelers were treated to a feast of international cuisine and live entertainment in a celebration of Canada's — and Sudbury's — multicultural mosiac.

Meanwhile, Science North hosted its annual Canada Day festivities on its grounds. Sudbury.com was there to snap some photos.

And, despite Mother Nature's best efforts, the inclement whether couldn't hold off a dazzling fireworks display after dark at 10:15 p.m. on Ramsey Lake. Look for a photo gallery soon.
