Timelapse: What does 108 million tonnes of snow look like?

Watch as Sudbury was transformed by the heavy snowfall on March 1

Sudbury was clobbered by a winter storm on March 1.

Sudbury.com set up a video camera at 9 a.m. to watch as the city was transformed by the heavy snowfall. Check out the timelapse video above.

Environment Canada says about 30 cm of snow fell, which according to the Living With Lakes Centre is equivalent to 108 million tonnes of snow in one day!

City crews worked hard to clear the entire 3,560 km of municipal roadway, which by the way, is the same distance as driving from Sudbury to El Paso, Texas.
