This year, Sudbury's Top Glove Boxing Academy is celebrating 35 years of helping fighters achieve their goals.
You can help the local boxing gym, which is owned by retired fighter, former Olympic boxing coach and Copper Cliff native Gord Apolloni, continue in its work by getting tickets for an upcoming evening of pugilism on Feb. 15.
The fundraising night of boxing on Feb. 15 will be held at the Lorne Street boxing gym, a.k.a. the Kevin Houle Memorial Boxing Auditorium, 147 Lorne St.
Doors open at 7 p.m. for the evening of Olympic-style boxing. Fights get going at 8 p.m. Refreshments and food will be available.
Friends and supporters are encouraged to bring their thirst and appetite to cheer on local talent and future Olympians, said the Top Glove news release.
Tickets are available at the Top Glove website.
As stated earlier, 2025 marks Top Glove’s 35th anniversary and the club is holding a special celebration at the Caruso Club on May 22 to honour the occasion. Tickets and details will be available soon.
Apolloni hopes current and former boxers will be available to attend the anniversary celebration, which will also be one of the boxing gym’s key fundraisers in the coming year.
