A town hall on the restructuring underway at Laurentian University as it grapples with insolvency will take place Wednesday evening.

The event, hosted by Jamie West, the group Save our Sudbury and the Confederation of University Faculty Associations (OCUFA), takes place 6:30-7:30 p.m. March 3.

The event was originally supposed to take both in-person and virtually, but due to a rise in COVID-19 cases, it will now be solely virtual.

To attend the event, RSVP for a Zoom link here.

“The town hall will bring together local community groups and residents who have repeatedly called on Ontario’s Minister of Colleges and Universities, Ross Romano, to step up and support Laurentian University and post-secondary institutions in Northern Ontario,” said information online about the event.

“The event will be an information and story sharing session about the importance our university has on the broader cultural, social and economic community.”

There will be three panellists as well as a student moderator leading the event. The panellists, moderator and MPP West will be present to answer any questions the community may have. You can submit your questions in advance by emailing [email protected].

This story has been updated to reflect the fact that the event is now virtual-only.
