Environment Canada has issued a travel advisory for the region for Greater Sudbury vicinity for this afternoon and through tonight.
Heavy snow late this afternoon through tonight will bring accumulations of between seven and 14 cm. Heavy snow will reduce visibility at times.
“Light snow is expected to move into the region near noon today and intensify late this afternoon or this evening,” the advisory states. “Snow squalls could also develop off Georgian Bay and Lake Huron this afternoon that may affect portions of the area leading to locally higher snowfall amounts.”
The snow is expected to taper off to flurries by tomorrow morning.
“Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays,” Environment Canada stated. “Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”
