The city's much-loved Jazz Walk is back and bigger than ever. Follow this year’s special guests Turbo Street Funk as they lead you on a winding musical journey through Downtown Sudbury on Sept. 10, from 1-4 p.m.

The event is part of the Jazz Sudbury Festival, which runs Sept. 7-11 this year.

Beginning in Memorial Park, the Jazz Walk has three separate stops featuring intimate musical performances and workshops by headlining and local artists. This unique event gives a chance to get up and close and personal to the artists.

“The Jazz Walk is such a unique event,” said festival manager Marc Gareau. “It really showcases the beauty of Downtown Sudbury and gives people an opportunity to experience these amazing artists in a really personal way.”

A funky fun band from Toronto that just released its second album, Turbo Street Funk will be taking the music to the street for the afternoon, parading through the streets and into some downtown’s landmark venues.

Their infectious groove will lead you from venue to venue taking in the sights and providing sounds to downtown Sudbury. The first stop at the Fromagerie will feature a performance by the local LU Jazz Combo.

The next stop at 2 p.m. at Oscar’s Grill will feature an intimate performance by Canadian blues legend Rita Chiarelli. Chiarelli has won every major Canadian blues award including multiple maple Blues awards and has been dubbed “Canada’s Goddess of the Blues.”

The Lost Fingers will be entertaining with their unique brand of Django gypsy jazz style at the last stop of the musical journey at 3 p.m. at the Red Fang Tavern.
Memorable workshops and performances from past jazz walks include Jack De Keyzer who wowed guests with a workshop on blues guitar. This year’s Jazz Walk is sure to entertain and provide lasting memories.

Space is limited for the Jazz Walk. Tickets are $50 and are available online through Eventbrite or in the Jazz Sudbury office at 96 Larch Street, suite 200.
