Greater Sudbury Police made at least two arrests overnight in St. Patrick's Day-related incidents.

In one instance, a man was arrested at a R.I.D.E. check when he was found to be driving while suspended and to be breaching a court-imposed curfew, according to a GSPS tweet at 12:53 a.m.

In another incident, a uniformed officer was nearly hit by a vehicle while crossing in a crosswalk outside of the bar S.R.O. on Durham Street, according to a GSPS tweet at 1:28 a.m.

The driver was found to have a blood alcohol content greater than 80 milligrams and was charged with impaired driving.

GSPS conducted R.I.D.E. checks throughout the city last night and even this morning to catch drivers who may still be impaired from the night before.
