Mike and Julie Marsh recently opened the very first Pita Pit in Val Caron, located at 3140 Hwy. 69 N.

“I was born and raised in Val Caron and I don’t plan on moving anytime soon,” Mike Marsh said. “Prior to joining Pita Pit though, I was involved in a completely different field.”

For the past 15 years, Mike had been working as a heavy equipment mechanic underground in the mines. After years of mine work and breathing soot and dust every day, he decided to turn to his local lunch spot for inspiration.

“The closest Pita Pit was in Sudbury,” Mike explained. “So I would drive into town to pick up some pitas.”

Mike and Julie opened their Pita Pit doors on April 11, and the response from the Val Caron community has been encouraging. The line for service extends out the door and the couple said the support has been amazing.

“Val Caron is a very tight-knit town with a lot of family values,” Mike said. “Pita Pit’s product is also unmatched, the variety of the pitas, the great taste, the health benefits, it’s just what families need.”

Mike said because of the positive feedback with the new restaurant, they may develop plans for a second location in the area in the future.
