Veterans, retired service people and members of the public are invited to join motorcycle riders from across Ontario in a one-day Ride to the Wall.

The rally sees a convoy of motorcycles (with a bus provided for non-riders and members of the public) ride from the Minnow Lake Legion in Sudbury to the cenotaph in North Bay, and back again, ending with a dinner and dance at the Legion branch overlooking Ramsey Lake.

Bob Miller said the event has been tipping the hat to service people and veterans, and raising funds for the Minnow Lake Legion for years.

“We honour veterans and people serving today,” Miller said.

There are 14 Ride to the Wall chapters across Ontario, he said, and members of the several of them will be attending the Sudbury-North Bay event.

The $20 registration fee helps support the Minnow Lake Legion.

Miller said they encourage veterans, current service people and members of the public who want to show their support to Canada’s past and present military personnel to participate. A bus is provided for anyone who wants to take part, but who doesn’t ride a motorcycle. Veterans do not have to pay the $20.

Registration is Aug. 26 from 9 - 9:45 a.m. at the Minnow Lake Legion branch on Weller Street. Riders leave in intervals starting at 10 a.m.

Once in North Bay, a wreath-laying ceremony, guest speakers and a lunch are held. The group then rides back to Sudbury for dinner, dancing and camaraderie.
