VIDEO: Fishing derby benefits family of boy dying of cancer

Money raised allows parents of three-year-old Noah to stay home during his final days

Noah Borgogelli has been fighting for his life since he was six months old when he was diagnosed with a form of leukemia.

Following chemotherapy, a bone marrow transplant and several more treatments, Noah's cancer went into remission for about a year.

But sadly, it returned, forcing Noah's parents, Anthony Borgogelli and Julie Major, to make a decision no parent wants to make.

Anthony and Julie decided the best thing for their son was ensure he is comfortable and surrounded by love.

For Anthony, that means stepping away from his job as a truck driver for a local contractor during Noah's final days.

The trouble is, Anthony is the family's sole breadwinner so figuring out how they would survive without his income was going to be a struggle.

That's when Shawn Scott entered the picture.

Scott organized a fishing derby on Ramsey Lake on August 12 with all proceeds going directly to the family.

While the weather didn't draw huge crowds of anglers out onto the water, throughout the day, many came by just to drop off  donations.

Scott was able to raise about $6,000 for the family.
