Video: How to get rid of pesky tent caterpillars

Greater Sudbury is under attack!

If you love tent caterpillars, turn away now.

But if you enjoy your garden and want to keep your trees from being devoured by the pesky army of worms — you've come to the right place!

Check out the video to learn four ways you can keep tent caterpillars at bay:

1. Spray the tent nests with vegetable oil or soapy water.

2. Wrap the base of trees with tin foil and petroleum jelly. This won't help if there are eggs on the leaves but it will prevent caterpillars from crawling up the tree.

3. Burn the nest using a propane torch. But be cautious. You don't want to burn the entire tree down (that would defeat the purpose).

4. Squash them!
