On May 31, the school community at St. Charles College came together to become the first high school in Sudbury to hold its own a 12-hour Relay for Life to raise funds and awareness for cancer research.
Some 500 people took part in the event, which was held on the school grounds and included a survivors' walk, games and activities.
Although organizers had set a goal of $5,000, the event raised more than $15,000 for cancer research.
Sudbury.com videographer Patrick Demers visited the event and spoke with organizers and cancer survivors about their experience and about how it feels for the school community to come together in the fight against cancer.
