‘It’s still ringing in my ears — I can hear her screaming’

A Sudbury family is still shaken up after a man entered their home, located on Kingsmount Boulevard, just after 7 a.m. on Sept. 28.

Watch the video as Rae Lewis describes the terrifying moment when her eight-year-old daughter came face-to-face with the intruder, telling “It’s still ringing in my ears — I can still hear her screaming.”
Thanks to the girl’s detailed description, police located and arrested the suspect not far from the family’s home. Although very frightened, the girl was physically unharmed.

Greater Sudbury Police Services would like to remind the public to take action to prevent break and enter by:

  • Locking all windows and doors;
  • Keep trees and shrubs trimmed and entrances well lit;
  • Don't leave a spare key outside under a mat or flower pot, or in the mailbox or on the ledge – it's better to leave a spare key with a trusted neighbour or friend, and;
  • If ordering merchandise online, make sure the package is delivered well before you go away, so it isn't left sitting out on the doorstep.
