Video: Trevi karaoke nights return July 31, with a few changes

Watch the video to see what precautions have been put in place to ensure the safety of customers and staff

Karaoke nights are coming back to the Trevi Bar & Grill on Friday, July 31.

When COVID-19 forced the closure of the restaurant back in March, karaoke host Chad Rivette said it was the first weekend he had off in the 26 years he's been in the business.

"It was surreal," Rivette told Sudbury.com. "I never realized until now how much I need that crowd, how much it helps with my mental health along with everybody else’s."

Having friends who live in China and Italy, Rivette understood the severity of the virus early on and started disinfecting equipment between sets months before the Ontario government declared a state of emergency.

When Greater Sudbury was given the green light to slowly reopen in June, Rivette got to work.

Working with the owner of the restaurant as well as the health unit, Rivette put new policies and procedures in place to help keep everyone safe, and was recently given the official thumbs up to cue the music once again.

Watch the video above as Rivette walks us through the changes customers can expect when they head-out for a fun (and safe) karaoke night out with friends.

Rivette will host karaoke nights every Friday and Saturday nights at the Trevi fom 10 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Trevi Bar & Grill is located at 1837 Lasalle Blv. in Sudbury.
